L.A.D.Y. Club
The L.A.D.Y. Club was started in 2022 by Mrs. Safeeya Baksh-Gyan. The concept was to have a club that was not academic or sport based, but one that was focused on developing or teaching life skills. Hence, the reason it was called L.A.D.Y (Learn About Developing Yourself). The Club usually aligns the activities for the term with the school's theme for that term. The club targeted the Form 3 year group in 2022 and those students are still current members. Since the inception the girls have learnt how to:
● Repair a hemline
● Stitch a button onto clothing
● Basic yoga poses
● Make healthy smoothies
● Introduce themselves in a formal setting
● Handshake etiquette
● Dining etiquette
● Skin and hair care (facilitated by past student Ms.Celine Mottley)
They also spent time while in Form Four, with the Form Three students, sharing their experiences and giving advice on choosing subjects. The majority of the members are currently in Form Five. The current theme is Developing their Resilient Self since Resilience is the school's theme this term. As such, the sessions this term have been focused on sharing challenges they faced and what they did to overcome those challenges.
Future Plans
