Cooking Club

The Cooking Club at ASJA Girls’ College, Tunapuna is a twelve (12) year dream realized in April of 2013.

Under the guide of Ms. Aleeya Khan and Ms. Pavita Sirju……….homegrown cooks, this club seeks to take our students on a culinary journey in the absence of any formal curriculum in this field.

Sessions are designed to unlock the innate chefs in all of our members by enhancing and developing skills and etiquettes essential to the world of food.

Food theory and practice are combined in a scheme of work designed to build a general foundation of knowledge in the area.

Some of the sessions conducted include:

1. Food Hygiene and Safety Practices.

2. Meal Planning (Diet, Nutrition, etc.)

3. Kitchen and Dining Etiquettes

4. Food Presentation (Eat and Take Out Layout and Packaging)

5. Practical Cooking Sessions (Bread & Pastries, Soups, Appetizers, Main Courses, Desserts, etc.)

Membership is reserved for the senior forms due to physical space limitations. Each year Form Fours (4s) are invited to enroll in Term III and spend three (3) terms until Form 5 Term II.

At present the club functions on the goodwill of staff, students and parents.
